Description

An interesting group of prase quartz crystals from the Segunda Esmeralda mine. It is a self-collected specimen that features transparent quartz coloured dark green due to greenalite inclusions, a rare Fe silicate. The other side is a cavity richly lined by amethyst quartz crystals. According to Calvo, M., (2016) these mines were exploited for amethyst since medieval times.

Also according to Manteca & Ovejero (1992) the Cartagena-La Unión mining district has one the biggest greenalite deposits of the world.

Found in 2009.
