Description

If we think about fluorapatite from Portugal we go instinctively to Panasqueira …. but no, this is not from there!. It was found on April 13th 2013 by a well-known Spanish prospector at the Bom Sucesso No. 4 Quarry. This nice specimen features aggregates of intergrown, attractive purple coloured, short prismatic crystals of fluorapatite with well-defined edges, striated faces and superb lustre!.

Furthermore these fluorapatite reacts to ultraviolet light turning deep orange in colour.

They are spread on yellowish muscovite microcrystals that form some interest hollow hexagonal structures. They are perimorphs after beryl crystals, now totally dissolved. Good quality specimen from an uncommon locality that unfortunately is already inaccessible for collectors.
