Locality:
Manono-Kitotolo Mine, Tanganyika, DR Congo

Single Crystal

Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3 × 2.7 × 1.8 cm
Description

Short prismatic, highly fractured tourmaline crystal of black colour with a net dark blue hue. When I found it in the Moors collection I thought it could be a pseudomorph so I sent it for analyses. The Raman test certified that it is a shorl tourmaline. Very rare species from this locality.

Specimen collected by Achiel Moors, a Belgian colonist in the D.R.Congo from 1957 to 1972.
