Description

Lustrous silver grey metallic iron meteorite mainly composed of kamacite, troilite and taenite. The Nantan iron meteorite belongs to the IAB group, it is a Ni-Fe octahedrite that was observed to fall in the XVI Century (precisely in May of 1516). However, most of the pieces (the fall was estimated at 9000 kg), were mostly recovered since the 1950’s.
