Goethite & Microcline Psm Parisite-(Ce)

Pseudomorph

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Mount Malosa, Zomba, Southern Region, Malawi
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.5 × 4.6 × 3.2 cm
Description

Interesting pseudomorph group from Mount Malosa of prismatic parisite/bastnasite crystals completely replaced by goethite/limonite. The external surfaces are partially coated/replaced by white microcline groups while the central areas of these pseudomorphs show the incipient cleavage of the parisite/bastnasite, perpendicular to the longest axe. Beautiful piece, mounted on a socle. There is some controversial about the original crystals of these pseudomorphs, but a clarifying information can be found in Guastoni, et al (2009).

Ex Tom Hermes specimen.
