Description

Gemmy smoky quartz of good lustre crossed by hollow tubes of square section due to inclusions of long prismatic anhydrite crystals. Most of the anhydrite crystals are now dissolved but some are still preserved in the interior. The quartz is so transparent that you can clearly see the anhydrite inside. Specimen from a classic Alpine locality andcompletely free of damages.

Acquired in 1976 from Siber & Siber. Ex George Vanacker* #8/379.

*Vanackerite from Tsumeb is named after him.
