Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.1 × 6.1 × 4.6 cm
Description

From a recent find, this is a superb radial cluster of azurite crystals with very intense lustre and deep blue colour. The rear side of this nice hedgehog is detached off the white powdery matrix but not broken. The general condition is very good with just minor erosions at the sides, and no damages at the frontal face. Its rounded form make possible to present the specimen in different positions.

Katanga is well-known for huge copper reserves, found as malachite mainly. However, azurite is quite uncommon in Katanga and good crystals can be found just in a handful localities, being Kimbwe the best of them.

Found in 01/2020.
