Description

If we think about fluorapatite from Portugal we go instinctively to Panasqueira …. but no, this is not from there!. It was found on April 13th 2013 by a well-known Spanish prospector at the Bom Sucesso No. 4 Quarry.

This nice specimen features aggregates of intergrown, attractive blue-grey coloured, short prismatic crystals of fluorapatite richly associated to tabular transparent crystals of bertrandite. The fluorapatites present well-defined edges, with striated faces and superb the lustre!. The specimen is crystallized also at the rear, with smaller fluorapatite crystals on yellowish muscovite all around.

Furthermore these fluorapatite reacts to ultraviolet light turning deep orange in colour. Good quality specimen from an uncommon locality that unfortunately is already inaccessible for collectors.
