Description

Well defined striated cherry-red crystals of cinnabar with splendid resinous lustre from Almadén, “The” Super Classic Locality for this species, already exploited by the Romans 2000 years ago. Some silver-white liquid native mercury drops are present in the cavities too. The specimen has a good size, and the main cinnabar crystal reach 10 mm in size. The matrix composed of black slate, white dolomite and golden pyrite.

Collected in the late 70’s (1978-80).
