Description

A good specimen with well-defined crystals of elongated baryte completely transformed to malachite, with good coverage, also at the rear side. A classic from the Shangulowé Mine where big world-class specimens of malachite after baryte were found long ago.

Collected before 1960, the specimen is from the stock of Robert Verdoodt, who was working in the laboratories of Union Minière du Haut-Katanga and evacuated to Belgium after the beginning of the Congo crisis.
