Description

Lustrous gemmy crystals of proustite from Chañarcillo, a super classic locality. The red colour is very intense, all the crystals are free of damages, and the acute terminations are typical for the locality, being this proustite habit known as “Chañarcillo -type termination”.

The matrix is a sulphide, that has reacted to the atmospheric moisture over the years, producing some kind of acid that has dissolved partially the associated crystals of calcite and dramatically affected the associated label. This label reads: “Pyrostilpnite ou Pyrargyrite”, “Chañarcillo, Chile”.

Ex. René Virlet specimen.
