Description

This is a hard to obtain specimen of silver from the Kipushi mine. The mineralization, composed mainly by massive bluish-black bornite, was roughly brecciated and the cracks were filled by native silver. The specimen presents a surface that was partially open parallelly to one of these cracks and the surface is richly covered by lustrous patches of grey native silver.

Found before 1960, the specimen is from the stock of Robert Verdoodt, who was working in the laboratories of Union Minière du Haut-Katanga and evacuated to Belgium in 1960.
