Description

Old time classic from Macha (Bolivia) of botryoidal cassiterite, variety wood tin. It is a lustrous and quite aesthetic multi-layered specimen of concentric internal texture, with the core coloured black with reddish-brown external layers. Such pieces of cassiterite are very uncommon nowadays because they came usually from a few historic localities and in limited amounts.

This was collected in the late 1940’s by Dr. Fritz Berndt (Berndtite is named after him). Ex. Dr. Jaroslav Hyrsl specimen.
