Description

According to me, this is the rarest piece of all these crystals from a new find in the West region of Mauritania, coming directly from a local miner. It features a gemmy Herkimer-type diamond quartz, with rarely multicoloured orange, white and yellow oily inclusions that are strongly fluorescent under UV light. Typical pieces from this locality are very rich in black flattened inclusions, mostly parallelly oriented to the rhombohedral faces, and they are not fluorescent. I have seen about 50 pieces and they are usually smaller than 30 mm. I selected these pieces because of the size and gemmyness, they are rich in fluorescent inclusions and they are in good condition, but they usually contain chippings in different degree, probably because locals are not use to manage specimens for collectors.

Found in October 2019.
