Description

Superb and hard to find specimen of transparent quartz crystals on a matrix of light pink rounded cobalto-rich calcite. What is really aesthetic and uncommon are the black spheroidal inclusions of heterogenite just below the rhombohedral faces of the quartz.

According to Roger Van Dooren, a Belgian colonist in Congo, these were found in a very limited area of the dumps and just a couple of boulders could be recovered. These were about 15-20 pieces. The year was ~1962-63. They travel back to the locality a couple of times but they could not find any more.

Exchanged to R. Van Dooren by Eudore Toussaint in 1982.
