Description

A classic cast of dolomite after calcite from the Kipushi Mine, but with a nice association to grey hemimorphite crystals on the surface. This kind of specimens where known as zincian calcite by miners and engineers at Kipushi, and afterwards by collectors. However we have analysed this kind of specimens by RAMAN and they are just dolomite, with a very thin golden brown coating of iron hydroxides. These epimorphosis from Kipushi are hard to find nowadays.

It was in the collection of Achiel Moors, a Belgian mineral collector who lived in Congo between 1957 and 1972.
