This is a big piece of clay stone with fossilized separate leaves of Paripteris Gigantea, (Carboniferous, Westphalian B, ~310 Ma). Leaves reach 30 mm in length, and are the negative cast in coal of the leaves. It was collected in 1984 by Bernard Gradel who was working as geologist in the quality control laboratory of the mines. He said that it comes from the shaft n°7, located at Avion, (group de Lens), from the vein called “Sillous”.
