Description

Elongated lustrous cubic crystal of pyrite completely replaced by goethite. Free of damages!. The edges are modified by minor pentagonal dodecahedral faces and striated due to the juxtaposition of two pyritohedron faces on the cube face.

It was collected in 1966 by Jacques Deblandre at the Bugarama pegmatite (Rwanda).

The label reads “limonite” but similar analysed samples from this locality at the Royal Museum for Central Africa at Tervuren, Brussels (Belgium) show that pyrite are replaced by goethite.
