Description

Damage free cubic striated crystals of pyrite completely replaced by goethite. The striations are caused by a juxtaposition of two pyritohedron faces on the cube face. Interestingly, this pseudomorphs are quite lustrous. Free of damages!.

It was collected in 1966 by Jacques Deblandre at the Bugarama pegmatite (Rwanda).

The label reads “limonite” but similar analysed samples from this locality at the Royal Museum for Central Africa at Tervuren, Brussels (Belgium) show that pyrite are replaced by goethite.
