Ferberite Psm Scheelite

Pseudomorph

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Bugarama Mine, Northern Province, Rwanda
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
9 × 4.8 × 3.8 cm
Description

Uncommon big elongated pseudo-octahedral scheelite crystal that has been completely replaced by black porous ferberite microcrystals. It is free of damages and the elongated form is due to the total replacement of the crystal and matrix by black ferberite and minor white quartz. The top is clearly sharp and well-formed while the base of the dipyramid is imbedded in the mass.

It was collected in 1969 by Jacques Deblandre at the Bugarama pegmatite (Rwanda). This is one the bigger pieces he had in his collection. A superb reinite pseudomorph!.
