Description

From a new find at the Qalat-e Bala salt dome, this is a sharp zunyite crystal with very good lustre, coloured red by hematite inclusions. Some metallic black lustrous hematite are also present at the surface. The habitus is tetrahedral {111}, with the edges modified by cube faces {100}. The size from point to point is very big for the locality, 17 mm, and it is in pristine condition, no chippings, just small cavities left behind by small detached hematite crystals!.

Found in January 2019.
