Description

A quite big floater crystal of hematite with a pseudo bipyramidal hexagonal habitus, black coloured and of intense metallic lustre. It is complete, without damages, with lustrous crystal faces or contact with other crystals, but no chippings!. The pseudo bipyramidal hexagonal form is culminated by {001} and the pseudo bipyramidal hexagonal is a result of {102} faces modified by {113}. These hematites from the Hormuz Island are quite rare in collections but they can be considered as “Classics” cause some crystals have been used as jewellery since at least 1800 years BC (Makovicky et al., 2014).

It was found on March 26th/2019.
