Description

A good and rare old specimen with well-defined crystals of azurite completely replaced by lustrous malachite, with good matrix coverage. An uncommon specimen from the Shangulowé, where world-class specimens of malachite after baryte were found long ago. In this mine pseudomorphs after azurite are very rare.

Collected before 1960, the specimen is from the stock of Robert Verdoodt, who was working in the laboratories of Union Minière du Haut-Katanga and evacuated to Belgium after the beginning of the Congo crisis in 1960.
