Description

A hard to see specimen of transparent baryte crystals of intense lustre, on a crust of crystallized malachite on black heterogenite on blue chrysocolla. This is one of the 5 different types of baryte that were found at Shangulowé and one of the hardest to obtain.

Collected before 1960, the specimen is from the stock of Robert Verdoodt, who was working in the laboratories of Union Minière du Haut-Katanga and evacuated to Belgium after the beginning of the Congo crisis.
