Description

Coarse grained lustrous interpenetrated crystals of chromite from “The Great Dyke”*.

According to the associated label it was obtained from Gilbert Gauthier in 1962. Ex. René Virlet specimen.

*The Great Dyke comprises a linear layered ultramafic intrusion that extends throughout almost the entire length of Zimbabwe on a north-north-east to south-south-west strike. The feature is noted as not being a true dyke, rather a series of lopolithic intrusions (Dale Foster).
