Description

Yes, this is another fluorapatite from Portugal…. but no, it is not from Panasqueira!.

It was found on April 13th 2013 by a well-known Spanish “Strahler” at the Bom Sucesso No. 4 Quarry. This nice specimen features an aggregate of attractive “rounded” fluorapatite crystals of intense purple colour with nice blue reflects.

They are well placed on a feldspar matrix, associated to prismatic transparent quartz crystals and white transparent tabular bertrandite crystals, also perfectly crystallized in this locality. It is very good condition and it reacts strongly to ultraviolet light turning orange to yellow near the flat ends. Good quality specimen from an uncommon locality that unfortunately is already inaccessible for collectors.
