Pseudomorph

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Bugarama Mine, Northern Province, Rwanda
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.1 × 4.7 × 3.7 cm
Description

A classic “reinite” pseudomorph from the Bugarama pegmatites located in Rwanda. This is a big specimen for the locality, formed by thick scheelite crystals now completely replaced by polycrystalline lustrous black microcrystalline ferberite. The core of the specimen is porous, cause the interior of scheelite was replaced by white-powdery anthoinite and yellow tungstite microcrystals, that are well preserved in this specimen, which is uncommon.

The specimen was collected in 1969 by Jacques Deblandre, a Belgian colonist in Rwanda. This is one the best pieces he had in his collection retaining this rare paragenesis, well represented in Bugarama.
