Description

Superb and hard to find specimen of doubly-ended transparent quartz crystals on a matrix of light pink rounded cobalto-rich calcite. What is really aesthetic and uncommon are the black spheroidal inclusions of heterogenite in two specific zones just below the rhombohedral faces. Very aesthetic specimen.

According to Roger Van Dooren, a Belgian colonist in Congo, these were found in a very limited area of the dumps and just a couple of boulders could be recovered. These were about 15-20 pieces. The year was ~1962-63. They travel back to the locality a couple of times but they could not find any more.

Exchanged to R. Van Dooren by Eudore Toussaint in 1982.
