Fluorite

Gem Crystal

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Villabona Mines, Llanera, Asturias, Spain
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
8.6 × 7.4 × 2.8 cm
Largest Crystal:
1.80cm
Description

Highly lustrous aggregate of yellow-orange cubic fluorite crystals richly covering a flattened matrix. These fluorites are scarce in the marked and should not be confused with the nearby found fluorites from the Moscona Mine, that are similar but with significative differences. For instance, Villabona fluorites are not or slightly fluorescent but those from Moscona are strongly UV fluo. Furthermore the crystals of this specimen have an orange tint which is highly uncommon in Asturias.

From a find of 2014. Ex. Iván Blanco collection.
