Description

Grossular is a common variety of garnet, but this specimen is from the remote Akhtaragda River Mouth, the type locality for the species. The group has very good green colour and intense vitreous lustre, and crystals are formed by a trapezohedron {211} and the dodecahedron {110}. It is a floater specimen in perfect condition.

Acquired in 1993, it is an Ex. J.Muizebelt.
