Description

A classic piece of calcite-rich marlstone with distinctive cubic crystals of halite with hollow faces, partially covered by fine silt sediment which preserved their shape after the salt was dissolved.

Collected near Portland Bill in the beds of Purbeck (Upper Jurassic, 145 million years old). With a label of Richard Tayler.
