Description

Very rich specimen with spiky yellow mimetite crystals of prismatic development, combined with hexagonal dipyramides that produce striated prism faces and give the appearance of nails. They grew quite aerial and some crystals are clearly doubly-ended. The vitreous lustre is very intense and the transparency is superb. The main crystals reach 10 mm in length and the condition of the specimen is good. The matrix is composed of dolomite, wulfenite and olive green mottramite.

A good size aesthetic specimen from the collection of Joseph Lhoest, a Belgian doctor who worked in D.R. of Congo for many years and it is well known for his articles about Congo in the Mineralogical Record.
