Gifurwe Mines, Cyeru Commune, Northern Province, Rwanda
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3.1 × 2.1 × 2.1 cm
Description

A classic “reinite” pseudomorph from the remote pegmatites of Gifurwe, far less common that those from Bugarama, located also in Rwanda. It has a net tetragonal dypiramidal habitus because the initial scheelite crystal was completely replaced by polycrystalline black microcrystalline ferberite. It is slightly porous and have some creamy quartz and calcite crystals at the rear, where the contact with the matrix is and where a portion is missing. These have never been common in the market.

Ex. William De Keersmaecker specimen.
