Description

Well defined, striated, gemmy red crystals of cinnabar with resinous lustre, from the Las Cuevas Mine in Almadén, "The" Super Classic Locality for this species. The specimen has a good size, and a net twin, with the matrix composed of black slate, white dolomite and pyrite, with some silver lustrous spheres of native mercury.

Collected in the 1960’s, it is an Ex. A. Álvarez specimen.
