Description
Locality:
Aouli, Midelt Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
8.4 × 5 × 2.9 cm
Description

A good size, druse specimen of quartz included by red hematite. The Aouli quartz is usually orange coloured, but only a limited amount of red quartz was found at the mid 1980’s. This specimen has a very good lustre, has a second generation of transparent brown quartz overgrowing the red hematite layer and it is in very good condition. I am told that only a handful of such specimens were produced from this huge deposit.

Piece #2348 of the recently acquired collection of Marcel Cromphout, who bought it in 1989. Beautiful!.
