Description

Old, classic lustrous botryoidal malachite from katanga, but from a very uncommon locality for this species, Kamoto. I cleaned the rear side of the specimen that was filled up by loss earthy material and plant roots, so it was found at the surface of in the tailing piles of the Kamoto Mine.

Found before 1960, the specimen is from the stock of Robert Verdoodt, who was working in the laboratories of Union Minière du Haut-Katanga and evacuated to Belgium in 1960.
