Description

Bicoloured yellow mimetite crystals with prismatic development, combined with hexagonal dipyramides that produce striated prism faces and give the appearance of curved terminations. The vitreous lustre is very good and the transparency of some crystals is superb. The main crystals reach 9 mm in length and the condition of the specimen is good. The matrix is composed of dolomite and some mimetite coated by black oxides.

A good size aesthetic specimen from the collection of Joseph Lhoest, a Belgian doctor who worked in D.R. of Congo for many years and it is well known for his articles about Congo in the Mineralogical Record.
