Description

This is a classic of the mineralogy of Sardinia: a fluorite from Is Murvonis Mine. The cubic crystals range from 23 to 26 mm in edge, have milky-white cores and a very attractive, transparent very thin external layer of lavender colour, concentrated at the edges. Just under the surface the cubes are rich in elongated inclusions of pyrite? or marcasite? of a bright golden-colour. In very good condition.

I’m told that these are scarce in collections cause they where never abundant. This one is from the collection of Tom Hermes (#4252), who bought it in 1999.
