Description

Old specimen of yellowish dull pisolitic magnesite from Castiglioncello (Italy). The morphology is pseudo pentagonal dodecahedral, and range from 4 - 5 mm in size, but some reach 8 mm. These pseudocrystals were historically known as “morfoliti di Castiglioncello”. The deposit was intensively exploited between 1914-1929, and intermittently afterwards until 1939. Dimensions are those of the glass container.
