Wulfenite & Galena

Pseudomorph

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Aïcha bel Lahcen, Midelt Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
4.5 × 3.4 × 2.1 cm
Description

Highly lustrous and well defined tabular crystals of wulfenite that present two different colourations, from yellow to orange. The matrix is a single galena crystal that has been corroded and transformed to small transparent cerussite crystals. The wulfenite crystals follow clearly the previous cubic faces of the dissolved galena cube, so it is a pseudomorph after galena.

Even if wulfenite from Morocco is common, this locality (Aïcha Bel Lahcen) is certainly less known.

We found this specimens in September 2015.
