Description

Prismatic crystal of cordierite replaced by a mix of clay minerals (type illite) known as “pinite”. It is from the classic French locality at the Puy-de-Dôme (Auvergne). It is formed by {100}, {110}, {130} and {001}. Only one end is complete.

Acquired in 1973, it is an Ex. Gerard Vogel specimen.
