Description

Group of hoppered silver-metallic, well defined pseudo-cubic crystals of acanthite, stacked in parallel growths. This specimen is a classic example of a paramorph (acanthite after argentite), where the original cubic simetry of the argentite is morfologicaly inherited by the acanthite, that is monoclinic, as a pseudo spinel-law twinned group. The specimen is hightly lustrous, crystallized all around and completely free of damage. It is mounted on a methacrylate socle.

Acquired in 1981 by Dr. Gerard Vogel (NL).
