Description

Self-collected on September 5th 2015 at the Jbel Taghouni, the specimen is composed of two pentagonal dodecahedra, twinned on [110], the so called “Iron Cross Twin”. The pyrite crystals have been replaced by iron oxides, probably Goethite. They are included in a hard, recrystallized quartz sandstone, which makes very difficult their extraction. Only a handful specimens could be recovered. The main crystal group is 15x13x13mm, in good condition, with just a chipping at the rear, but not visible at the display face.

A very interesting and uncommon specimen from the Bou Azer District in Morocco.
