Description

This is an Ex. Georges Vanacker* specimen, labelled “Selen-tellurium”, initially described at El Plomo Mine (Honduras) in 1890. “Selen-tellurium” was thought to be a Se-bearing variety of tellurium, but currently these specimens from Honduras are considerer a mixture of this two minerals, Selenium and Tellurium (American Mineralogist (1991), 76, 257-265). Acquired by Georges Vanacker in 1957.

*Vanackerite (from Tsumeb) is named after him.
