Description

Well-defined crystals of thin tabular baryte, completely transformed to green malachite, and some black heterogenite, in different cavities. Different stages of the mineralization are observable, with some holding the typical light blue chrysocolla still occupy the intercrystalline space. The crystals are so thin that they look like torbernites. Good representative specimen from the Shangulowé mine.

Collected before 1960, the specimen is from the stock of Robert Verdoodt, who was working in the laboratories of Union Minière du Haut-Katanga and evacuated to Belgium after the beginning of the Congo crisis.
