Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico

Crystal Group/Cluster

Miniature (4.5-7 cm)

6.3 × 4.7 × 2.7 cm
Description

Excellent combination. An aesthetic combination of mimitite with bladed barite crystals (up to 1.1 cm across). The mimitite is comprised of sharply formed yellowish-green coloured radiating crystal aggregates. The baryte is sharp with similar yellow/green coloured radiating bladed crystals. These are translucent and lustrous.

Baryte is not common at this classic Mexican locality and this is this colour association is the only one I have seen in over 20 years of specializing in Mexican minerals.
