Analcime Gmelinite & Natrolite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Little Deerpark Quarry, Glenarm, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6 × 5.5 × 4 cm
Description

Most noteable on this specimen is radiating analcime which is a very rare occurrence. When observed in good sunlight light these radial crystals from Little Deer Park refract to give the colours of the rainbow along their length. This can be seen in a couple of the images. I am not aware of analcime from any other locality that exhibits this effect. Even without this unusual analcime the matrix has an excellent display of reflective, water clear, terminated natrolite crystalssourounded by gmelinite of good colour.

Currently very hard to find material at this locality.
