Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Sheshkinnarone, Dunglow, County Donegal, Irish Republic (Eire)
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3.5 × 2.5 × 1.5 cm
Description

This is a top quality specimen of beryl from the best locality in Ireland for the species. Almost all of the specimens I have seen from Sheshkinnarone consist of beryl crystals locked within the quartz and with cleaved ends. This specimen is one of the very few showing naturally terminated crystals (2). I travelled some distance to collect at the site a few years ago and after considerable time searching only found two reasonable specimens, none of which came close to the one on offer here. Most of the material to be found was broken single crystals. Very hard to acquire and rarely offered for sale.
