Description

A specimen of unusual and rare terminated fluorite cubic crystals from the famous Blue-John Cavern in Derbyshire. This mine is known all over the world for massive 'Blue John' that comands high prices when carved. Free crystals are rare and this terminated specimen was collected sometime in the early 1950's.

It comprises of numerous pale purple interlocking fluorite cubic crystals to 0.4 cm with distinctive zoned edges and stepped faces with darker blue-purple. Over grown in part with a cream Barytes. To the undersides (sawn) there is deep blue-purple fluorite with cream Barytes.

An exceptional specimen of hard to obtain material and fantastic under magnification.
