Locality:
Blue John Cavern, Castleton, Derbyshire, United Kingdom
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6 × 4 × 4 cm
Description

Blue John Cavern is famous world wide for the beautiful yellow and purple banded fluorite that is fashioned into various items (see another of my listings for an example). The material is very scarce nowadays and therefore commands high prices. Even scarcer are specimens of free formed crystals from the cavern. This specimen comprises of numerous yellow cubic crystal, up to 1.7 cm on an edge, with speckled faces. Under magnification the speckles appear to be purple inclusions. An unusual and very rare example from a historic locality and a great addition to any collectors cabinet.
